6A) FROM RUEBEN JONES ( US MILITARY ACTIVE )

rueben jonesy to me

Deborah we are blue thinking about you.

First we are green. Today we are blue.

This is my attempt at a poem. I didnt say I was good. I said it was an attempt. So dont be too harsh.

There was a boy who went to war, like many other boys before him. Maybe it made him a man, maybe it didn’t. Maybe he already was a man, maybe he wasn’t. Maybe it doesn’t matter, maybe none of it does, maybe it all does. Maybe. Maybe amongst many other sentimentalist pseudo-intellectual theories, this boy had a theory that the only emotions that matter are anger, sadness, and hope, and that everything else branches off from those in convoluted absurdity. green was first, then the blue. Get well Deborah.

.Bigtank! ”They just don’t know no bettaahhhhhhhh!!” lmfaoooooooooooo!

Prophetic words. The Gravediggers rolled up to the checkpoint, and, CSM- BigTank! slurred in disgust. “’Dose mutha fuckas, they on the other side of the checkpoint. They keep beaming us and shit, but none of ‘em are on the ground. How the fuck can they even see anything from where they at? They too far away!”

-dats what we call da high life on da fobbit farm!.

5a) FROM  SYD WATERS  ( US MARINE CORP ACTIVE  )

Deborah

We are thinking of you here in Iraq, ‘BigTank’ told us about your accident Deb and in between all the other crazy things around here,I am letting you know we all wish you a refuah shelamah.

You have to hear this story about things that make you say,” what the heck is going on around here”.

O Dark Thirty. not that any of us were really aware of that at the time. Patrolling up and down Route Daytona, the highway stretch that serves as the logistical spinal column for the massive American body draped across this part of Iraq.

(keep up Deb>convo>)“Gravedigger1, !, this is X-Ray.”  Radio calls at this time of night rarely bring good news.

I responded and waited for the details for the latest goat symphony we needed to conduct. “Roger … move south, to Checkpoint AL5. There’s a convoy that has come to a halt on the far side of that checkpoint … claims they see a box with some wires coming out of it. They need someone to check it out.”

The obvious question followed on my end. “They can’t check it out themselves? If it’s bad enough for them to totally stop, why haven’t they called EOD?”

The TOC-roach on the other end of the radio just snickered. “It’s a super convoy of fobbits, making their once-a-year run between FOBs. So no, no they can’t check it out themselves.”

I just shook my head and relayed the Frago to my platoon. SSG Bustochops  began chuckling from the back of the Stryker. “ it has gotta be bad when the dude in the TOC is busting their asses.”

They too far away!”lmaoooooooo

“That’s why we’re here,” I said. “See you on the ground. We’ll check it out for them.”

Now, we don’t make it a habit of clearing possible IEDs on foot, but as we moved up dismounted to the location in question, we couldn’t help ourselves. We’ve seen IEDs of various sorts, up-close-and-personal. They don’t usually resemble broken banana crates.

While SFC Big Country took a fire team to go inform the super convoy that all was clear, SSG Chopperhorns picked up the pieces of the crate and started pelting SPC Tunnel Rat, while using every colorful epithet for “pogue” imaginable. We still hadn’t found the reported wires though, and I knew that question would inevitably be asked, whether anyone blew up or not. I retraced our steps to the north, bent over, and picked up a long, dangling chord connected to a small squarish piece of plastic.

Cassette tape spool. Spool connected to a cassette tape. A cassette tape that contained the immortal, profound words of … Bon Jovi?..what the hell is that? don’t the eighties ever die?

Things that make you go. What. The hell is going on over here”!. ask Tank how pissed he was. lmaoo

Deborah sending you my thoughts from Iraq.
“Get bettaah doll!”. ere Deborah you have no choice’. Bigtank is gettin a lil cranky these days and throwing potentialy good men off into candy-land island in search of the true answer to the decade’s old  question,”how many licks does it take to finish a tootsie-roll  tootsie pop”?.lol an inside joke I promise to privv you to later. lol.
I do have to run and take care of some duties doll. This is the marines!! . we don’t lounge on deck and rub oil on eachother like our fortunate brother’s in the Navy. Ask Capt.Simon He’ll tell ya all about it.
Like Bigtank always tells us,”they just don’t know no bettaah!”.lmaoo.

3a) FROM JAKE GOLDMAN:

Jake Goldman to me  ( US MILITARY ACTIVE )

To David
I didn’t get notice of this situation and it took me by surprise.I placed a call to Calif. and discovered that you are correct. I was on an OPS mission, and havent heard from my family since the 12/24/09.
Deborah and three other girls were indeed in an auto accident on 12/25/09. I was told everyone is scraped up pretty good but is okay and will recover with no problems to any one of the girls. It was explained to me that the two girls who took the blunt of the injuries were the driver which was not Debb. and the girl sitting in the back on the driver’s side . Which was Debb. These two girls sustained several broken bones. My wife told me the car with the girls were traveling in was hit by another car being pursued by police vehicles, and ran a red light. The car traveling with Debb in was side-swiped. These types of news and communications are always hard for someone  serving in a country away from our families.I I have to admit this one bothers me like hell. debb is a good kid, my kids think shes their aunt she’s so close to them. Debb met my eldest son 4 months before I met him. I was in Iraq at the time. ( no home deploy for births).I’m thinking of all these things in Iraq with no power to comfort. It’s the one draw back bro. The one drawback. Thanks again for the contact and information coming from your end.Summation: everyone is okay and currently healing.  Jake Goldman.FOB-Iraq.

2a )FROM SIMON KATZ  ( US MILITARY NAVY  CAPT. ACTIVE )

Simon Katz to me

On behalf of all of the men and women enlisted on the; USS New Jersey-BB-62., FOB.LongBeach California. Today we Salute  you, Deborah for all of the care, concern, awarness, and duty you have extended to your fellow Jews. And ,Jews in the military.

To remind us all that there are loved ones and, even people we have never met, that show us so much love and care.It reminds us every second we are away from our loved ones, that they are there every step of the way in our battle to secure our freedoms and security for all of us to enjoy.Anyone who reads this please keep in mind Deborah for a Very fast Refuah Shelamah.
Thank You. Capt.Simon Katz.USS New Jersey.BB-62, LongBeach Calif.,

1a) FROM SIMON KATZ  ( US MILITARY NAVY  CAPT. ACTIVE )

Simon Katz to me
For Deborah  in California and her Merits. Refua Shelimah .

Jewish tradition does not consider only those who were famous for their righteousness, generosity, or Torah knowledge worthy of the title “great.” Fundamental to Jewish thought is the idea that God creates individuals with particular strengths meant for their self-development and the benefit of those around them. Most of us will never be famous, but still have crucial roles to fill for ourselves, our families, and others. Realizing one’s potential is what makes a person truly great, whether or not historians ever notice it.
However, one way to learn how to actualize one’s potential is by following another’s example. Knowing about great women, then, can inspire us regarding the important roles Jewish women have had in our history, helping us carry out our responsibility to perpetuate a legacy of generations of Jewish women devoting themselves to Judaism and the Jewish people. Deborah from California.I am proud that you hold high in regard your name. And your message strong with the same elements of passion for victory for the jewish people, as did Deborah.

DEBORAH
Deborah was a great prophetess who served as a Judge of the Jewish people. When Israel was being attacked, the Jewish General Barak refused to wage war unless she joined him. She agreed and mobilized a huge army to defeat the enemy.
Deborah was also known for making the wicks for the torches in the Temple in order to encourage Torah learning. In the Torah, she is called “Deborah, woman of torches,” because this support of Torah is considered an even greater contribution to the future of the Jewish people than her military victories.
With all her accomplishments, in the famous “Deborah’s Song” she referred to herself as a “mother in Israel,” because she saw motherhood as her greatest role.

Dearest Deborah
I have prayed for for you, and am thinking of you. I hope that your refuah Shalemah is very fast and you are healed and, well before you realize.
Dacon said it best and I am going to borrow his comment > .WE ARE ALL ONE NATION , ONE GD OF ISRAEL,  AND IN TIMES OF TROUBLE WE UNITE AND SUPPORT EACH OTHER.

19) FROM AVRAHAM KOHEN

Shalom Jews with Views
Deborah Refuah Shelamah as fast as possible.May Hashem guide you through many more healthy years for you and your family.
I don’t know when Jews with views began as a functioning blog but,I think have been reading this blog since the beginning or close to the beginning of it’s first few months, even back to the Mumbai terrorist situation, where it sparked rage on the text roll by chat-backs.I was never disappointed by out of key perspectives brought on by Jews with views. The blog always has remained rock solid to important issues about ‘Jews’ isn’t that the reason we are all here visiting this little cyber spot for Jews? to get the best response for your concerns, gripes?,issues directly and indirectly affecting us as a whole clutch of people?,like the remarkable story Haza tells about how direct terrorism which she saw first hand, really does ‘directly effect all of us as a whole, not as a fragment. We are not a fragmented people. We are Jews no matter what place on this earth we came from. What happened in Mumbai and what happened in Yeshivat Mercaz HaRav was a direct attack on all of us no matter where we stood as Jews on those days and every other day we were attacked’.
I am particularly somewhat of an admirer and fan of Deborah who so oftentimes gave her strong and solid opinions on what Jews could do to disengage some sensitive issues that again effect ‘all’ Jews. not just some of us.
I particularly appreciate the Torah perspectives I remember reading,I don’t think there was ever enough.I enjoy reading many of Dacon’s perspective’s and vigilant rants on injustices and random issues.
I must say,”Deborah you are my favorite of all the contributors on the blog and that’s one of the reasons It  hurt me when I heard you were in an accident.I will tell you what my first thoughts were.” I hope she is OK and your refuah shelamah comes in record time.., And my secondary thought was, that you are such a brilliant minded individual and I thought about a few things I remember you describing in your articles and hoped you would come back as soon as you could to continue posting those things for other Jews to learn by.
Deborah when you read all the comments and well wishing people have sent you, look upon the effect of your deeds.what does it say to you?
Avraham Kohen.

18) FROM MILDRED BURG  ( BLOGGER)

 Mildred Burg to me

Dear Deborah

I am sorry to hear of an accident.I am writing this letter to you to let you know that I am praying for you. I hope that you make a full refuah shelamah faster than I can type and send off this to Jews with views.May your family be well and be comforted, and knowing you will get stronger each day.

My name is Mildred. I am a 4th grade Hebrew teacher. I would like to explain to you, how what may have appeared as an ordinary idea to the staff at Jew’s with views; may have not appeared so ordinary for a group of 28 children and myself.

How has your blog helped and encouraged a 4th grade Hebrew school class of children into enthusiastic learning and teaching of what tzedakah and chesed are?.

We began our studies this year with a projective of all of our tzedakah raised would go to Israeli charities.I came across your blog somehow and enjoyed keeping up with the current issues at hand. I read how Jews with views were supporting the militaries in the U.S and Israel.( IDF).I decided then to suggest to my children what they thought about the perspective of sending our next $36.00 of tzedakah the children raised themselves to the IDF as a pizza fund for the soldiers, in honor of Jew’s with views for the consciencous and important voice of support made by your blog. The check was sent in on your blogs behalf. Our prior check was sent to; Yad L ‘Kashish. also a learning experience for the children., the children were also delighted their tzedakah went to a place that grew close to their hearts.

Deborah,  Dacon and, other people with a strong sense of Jewish community at Jew’s with views thank you for your time and concern to want to help other people sometimes less fortunate than our own selves.I really just wanted you and others you work with to create Jews with views to know what your work has meant to other people in this large world.

 Sincerely yours,  Mildred berg.

The Song of Deborah
Awake, awake, Deborah: awake, awake, utter a song.—Judges 5:12.

Then sang Deborah and Barak the son of Abinoam on that day, saying, Praise ye the LORD for the avenging of Israel, when the people willingly offered themselves. Hear, O ye kings; give ear, O ye princes; I, even I, will sing unto the LORD; I will sing praise unto the LORD God of Israel.
A refuah Shelamah to Deborah.

16) FROM JAMIE  ( BLOGGER & PALTALKER )

Dacon9,Deborah and Jews with Views Thank You so much.

15) FROM ELISHEVA

Elisheva  to me
Shalom David.
Looking back at the letter posted by the hebrew teacher and thinking to myself and wanting to tell you that you should print out the letter and frame that.It is that special.  The hebrew teacher really stands out, she involved 28 childrens in something wonderful and positive in a side interest you have: Jews with views’. She didn’t say how they raised the tzedakah. I wondered what projects they partook to do  it. very nice . Print it out and once in awhile look at it and know whenever someone sends you trashy foul mails. look at the one from the hebrew teacher and her 28 students. it should make you feel better.

FROM THE EDITOR

FROM THE EDITOR

ELISHEVA I UNDERSTAND YOUR MEANING  THAT THE TEACHERS INVOLVED THE CHILDREN WHO ARE THE FUTURE OF ISRAEL AND THE WORLD… INVOLVE THE CHILDREN… BUT SOMETHING ELSE STANDS OUT FROM ALL THESE RESPONSES….WE ARE ALL ONE NATION , ONE GD OF ISRAEL,  AND IN TIMES OF TROUBLE WE UNITE AND SUPPORT EACH OTHER. WHEN I LOOK AT ALL THESE BEST WISHES..MY EYES LITERALLY SWELL UP AND TEAR.
